DBT Program Clinician and Skills Facilitator

Tim Flaherty holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Tim worked as a counselor in a mental health hospital setting, developed a pain management program utilizing mindfulness and CBT for patients with long term illness, and facilitated recovery groups for adolescents and adults for the past several years.  Tim is immersed in DBT Foundational training and Certification and is excited to deliver techniques to assist clients to develop skills to better handle life’s struggles. Tim is drawn towards clients who have a desire to develop a deeper sense of understanding about themselves and their relationships with others. Through this understanding, he hopes to help his clients create a plan for a fulfilled life. Tim will help his clients explore patterns of thinking and behavior and identify the motivations behind behaviors that are maladaptive. Through close collaboration with the client, Tim will develop a treatment plan to address the thoughts and behaviors that keep client’s stuck and struggling to build their Life Worth Living.  Tim will discuss ways to increase motivation for new behaviors, follow through with short-term goals, and monitor for change. Tim believes that the most powerful skill a clinician can provide is being present with the client when they are working through life’s challenging and painful moments.

Tim enjoys spending time with his wife and baby daughter.
