Renée Peyton LCSW

DBT Program Clinician and Skills Facilitator

Renée is a seasoned therapist with specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and over 15 years experience guiding others to build a life worth living.

Renée earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New York State University at Albany, and then went on to earn her Master of Social Work from New York State University at Albany School of Social Welfare. Renée holds a license to practice Clinical Social Work in both New York and California.

Renée began her career counseling adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders in an addiction day treatment program, and then transitioned to providing individual, family and group psychotherapy to adults receiving services from a community behavioral health clinic. Renée is a Board of Behavioral Services approved supervisor and enjoys coaching & developing new therapists. For the past several years Renée has served as the Clinical Director of a community behavioral health clinic.

In 2006 Renée received extensive training in Dialectal Behavior Therapy which transformed her clinical practice. Renée has also received Advanced Training in DBT with Shari Manning and Katie Comtois. Her therapeutic style is warm, nurturing, interactive and solution focused. Renée specializes in helping adults improve their coping, self-esteem, communication and relationships, and to discover meaning in their lives. Her areas of expertise include co-occurring disorders, personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma and women’s issues.

Influenced by her Native American heritage, Renée believes in the importance of bringing balance to the body, mind and spirit.  Renée is passionate about wellness, spirituality and helping others on their journey toward inner peace.
