Katie Devlin Ph.D.

DBT Skills Facilitator

Dr. Devlin obtained her PhD from the University of Arizona, where she specialized in family psychology and neuropsychology. She completed an APA accredited internship and her first Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Kaiser Permanente LA Medical Center working primarily with adults and her second Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) working with youth and families. After working for several years at CHOC as a Pediatric Psychologist, she directed the APA accredited internship sites at both CHOC and later at Western Youth Services, where she also provided and oversaw the advanced clinical training for all therapy staff.

Dr. Devlin is trained and certified in the following evidence care treatment programs: Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TTF-CBT), Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma (ITCT), and is a Master Trainer of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE Interface). In addition, she has extensive training in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her approach to treatment is to empower clients with skills and knowledge to enable them to reach the change they seek. She also empowers clients to become fully present in their journey to clearly understand the context in which they find themselves. With skill, self-awareness, and understanding of others, clients are able to embrace options and make wise choices.

Outside of teaching and providing care, she enjoys hiking with friends, traveling and exploring new cultures, spinning around the neighborhood on her elliptical runner, reading, listening to podcasts, training and enjoying her dog, Quincy, and appreciating her husband’s company and stellar cooking.
