Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher

Kathy is the founder of Breathing Room Yoga for Recovery. She is a Yoga Alliance registered advanced/experienced yoga teacher (E – RYT 500) and a certified yoga therapist (CYT) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre and Dance, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, and over three decades of experience in the healing professions and movement arts. She holds certifications in Kripalu Yoga, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, and Y12 SR – The Yoga of 12 Step Recovery. Kathy is particularly interested in the Buddhist path of recovery and mindfulness-based practices.

Kathy works from a heart-centered approach, meeting students and patients wherever they are on their journey. She is committed to helping others connect to their inner wisdom so that they can explore new and healthier ways of being. Her classes and private sessions concentrate on the breath: Stretching, strengthening and balancing the body, quieting the mind, opening the heart, and nourishing the spirit.

When not on her yoga mat or meditation cushion, Kathy enjoys spending time in nature, moving with abandon, reading whatever is available, watching indie movies and cavorting with her family, friends and assorted furry critters. Kathy is grateful to all her teachers, her students, patients and colleagues, and every yogi she has met for lighting a path towards her own freedom from suffering.
