Carolyn Huckabay LCSW
Carolyn Huckabay is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of California and received her Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach with a Mental Health and Children, Youth and Families Concentration. Over the past several years, Carolyn has cultivated both inpatient and outpatient mental health experience. She has worked in multiple inpatient psychiatric hospital settings including College Hospital Costa Mesa (CHCM) and Royale Therapeutic Residential Center (RTRC), working to provide mental health and case management services for adults with severe and chronic mental illness who often experience co-occurring issues including eating disorders, personality disorders and substance abuse. She received training in facilitating DBT Skills Groups and helped to develop and implement a DBT Skills Group that corresponded with the inpatient setting. At Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian – Newport Beach: Community Health, she provided psychotherapy services to low income children, adults, couples, and families. While there, she developed group curriculum and co-facilitated group therapy for adolescents.
Foundationally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Carolyn is currently working towards the B-Tech DBT certification. Carolyn co-facilitates the Adult Intensive Outpatient DBT Skills Program, weekly DBT skills training groups, and provides individual case management, skills coaching and psychotherapy services at the DBT Center of Orange County. She helps individuals to identify their goals throughout treatment and links them with the necessary community resources needed to support their growth. Carolyn’s goal for all clients is to ensure continuity of care while playing an overall supportive role in each individual’s treatment and development utilizing the DBT model. Carolyn loves seeing individuals’ lives transform through the practice and implementation of DBT skills in their daily lives and is honored to help each individual in their journey to build a Life Worth Living.
