MICHELE’S IMPACT
Stories About Michele
Michele impacted so many people—clinicians, friends, family and clients alike.
Some share how she supported them below:
When I first stepped into Michele’s office, I firmly believed I was broken beyond repair – but I was wrong.
Michele listened patiently when I could barely speak because tears were running too fast down my face and panic had taken my breath away. She sat with me as I outlined the traumatic events of my past that I had never managed to speak aloud and waded through the messes in my mind from years of denial, lies, pain and suffering. Time and time again, she listened without judgment, to whatever it was I had to say…thank you, Michele.
Thank you for carrying me through the most difficult time in my life, for putting in countless amounts of hours on my recovery process and providing me with all of your love, care, and support.
Michele inspired, empowered and equipped me with the DBT skills and guidance on how to handle the day-to-day challenges of PTSD, anxiety and depression.
I’ve learned how to validate myself and how to work through my emotions. I’ve learned how to tolerate what I’m experiencing, rather than being overwhelmed by it, and to react in a healthy, resilient way. I no longer feel alone or misunderstood. I am more loving, more patient and kinder to myself and others.
No matter how many times I repeat this phrase “thank you, Michele,” it won’t feel like enough, it wouldn’t be enough because she saved my life (and the DBT program). I’m forever grateful.
With much love and gratitude,
Tracy Bernstein
It is with heavy hearts that we remember our beloved mentor, boss, chosen family, and dear friend. At the DBT Center of Orange County, she wasn’t just our leader—she was the heart of our team. A compassionate soul and a generous spirit, she showed up for each of us in ways that went far beyond the workplace. She was a mom to us all—checking in, lifting us up, celebrating our wins, and guiding us through the challenges.
Her unwavering support and encouragement helped shape not only our professional growth but our personal paths as well. She believed in us, often more than we believed in ourselves, and never missed a chance to offer praise, lend an ear, or extend a hand. Her presence brought warmth and wisdom into every room she entered.
We still find ourselves expecting her to walk through the office door, smiling and ready to care for everyone around her. Her absence is deeply felt, and the loss is profound—not just in our workplace, but in our lives.
We will carry her lessons, her love, and her legacy with us.
We miss you deeply. Thank you for everything.
With love and remembrance,
Nora Josephson
